The value of an existing photovoltaic system can be assessed based on various economic and technical factors. These include, in particular, book value, earnings value, residual value and the future cash flows of the system.

PV-Valuator PRO takes into account, among other factors, system capacity, commissioning date, technical data, condition, remaining operating period, Performance Ratio (PR), degradation, operating costs (OPEX), self-consumption, feed-in tariff and electricity price. PVGIS can also be used for location-based yield estimation.

The financial valuation considers key indicators such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), ROI and payback period. The results serve as an indicative economic basis for decision-making and do not replace an individual assessment by a qualified expert.

The value of an existing PV system depends on both technical and economic factors.

The most important factors include system capacity, age and commissioning date, module and inverter technology, condition and maintenance, remaining useful life, Performance Ratio (PR), annual degradation and expected electricity production.

On the economic side, the operating model, self-consumption rate, electricity prices, EEG remuneration or market premiums, ongoing operating costs (OPEX) and future revenues play an important role.

The earnings value of a PV system is based on the future expected economic returns of the system.

PV-Valuator PRO takes into account, among other factors, system capacity, specific yield, Performance Ratio (PR), annual degradation, remaining operating period, self-consumption rate, electricity price, EEG remuneration and annual operating costs (OPEX).

If the specific yield is not known, PVGIS can be used for location-based yield estimation. The expected electricity production is then modelled over the remaining operating period while taking degradation into account.

The resulting earnings value is an indicative economic valuation based on the data and assumptions entered.

The residual value of an existing PV system can be calculated based on the determined earnings value and by taking additional value-influencing factors into account.

PV-Valuator PRO considers, among other factors, the remaining operating period, technical condition, Performance Ratio and deductions for costs and a potential sales discount. Regular maintenance and a market factor can also be taken into account.

The condition of the system can, for example, be assessed as excellent, good, average or poor. This allows the calculated value to be adjusted accordingly.

The residual value represents a model-based indicative valuation and depends significantly on the underlying assumptions and actual market conditions.

The value of a PV system after 10 or 20 years cannot be determined solely by its age. Important factors include the original investment costs, remaining useful life, technical condition, historical and expected electricity production, degradation, future revenues and operating costs.
